Spotify knows what you listen to. It knows your favorite artists, the songs you skip, the genres you return to, and what you’re likely to play next. It’s incredibly good at understanding your taste. But there’s something an algorithm can’t see: how you feel right now.

Music isn’t only about what we like. It’s about what we need in a particular moment. The same person can want something slow on a Sunday afternoon, something nostalgic on a long drive, or something completely unexpected on a Friday night. Our taste can remain relatively consistent, but our mood is constantly changing.

That’s where a great DJ makes the difference.
